The Lord Has Spoken

Members and friends of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will long remember the just-completed October General Conference as one of the highlights of 2021.  Every session was filled with wonderful counsel, comforting reassurances, and inspired and inspiring testimonies.  But few would dispute that the highlight was the Sunday morning message from President Russell M. Nelson, regarded by Latter-day Saints worldwide as a prophet, seer, and revelator.  His energy and alertness are amazing for a 97-year-old.  But more impressive yet is the assurance one feels when listening to him that President Nelson truly knows God and speaks authoritatively in His name.

Just as milk can be swallowed without effort, while meat must be chewed thoroughly, so does the spiritual meat we were fed at this conference need to be “chewed” by our re-reading it, pondering it, underlining it, and prayerfully seeking how to apply it in our lives.  In addition to our doing this individually, we can do it as families, letting family members share and discuss those thoughts which came to each of them as they listed to or reread the conference messages.

One tool which could be used for personal review or as a fun way to begin a review of any or all of the sessions as a family would be the following Kahoot games I have prepared, one for each session.  If you are not familiar with Kahoot, a little experimentation should enable you to find how to use each game either individually, as a “Challenge” version, or to host a group competitive game by clicking on “Host,” with each member of the group putting a PIN number into their individual laptop or phone.  Admittedly, multiple choice questions in a game format do not always coincide with the most significant points made by each speaker.  But they could be a springboard for further examination and discussion of the talks.  If you have time for only one of the Kahoot games, I suggest the one related to the Sunday morning session.  Second choice could be the Sunday afternoon one. For best results with using the Kahoots, and for a maximum number of options in using them, you will need to sign in with your Kahoot login. If you don’t have a Kahoot account, it will be easy enough to make one. Happy feasting! (Don’t forget to “chew.”)
